Matthew Holley's favorite chocolate chip cookies

My friend Tammie gave me this recipe after a whole year of searching for the best chocolate chip cookie. She tried at least 40 different recipes and then one day looked on the crisco sticks and found this one, tried it and now she is famous for her cookies. I use half butter and half crisco and double the recipe.

3/4 stick butter flavored crisco
1 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 Tbs.milk
1 Tbs. vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (Optional)

Heat oven to 375. Beat together shortening, brown sugar until fluffy. Add milk, vanilla and egg. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add to wet ingredients and beat until incorporated. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are browned.
